Life Insurance
Family income benefit
Cover that pays a regular income for the remainder of the term rather than a single lump sum.
Instead of one payment, the policy may pay a monthly or annual amount to the surviving household until the end of the term. For families used to managing on a salary, that shape is often easier to plan around.
Premiums are frequently lower than an equivalent lump-sum policy, because the insurer's total exposure falls as the term progresses.
Things worth considering
- Payments stop at the end of the original term
- The total value falls the later in the term a claim is made
- Often combined with a smaller lump-sum policy for immediate costs
