Life Insurance
Level-term life insurance
A fixed sum assured over a fixed term — the most straightforward shape of cover.
The amount of cover stays the same throughout the term. If you die during that term, the policy may pay the agreed sum; if the term ends first, the cover simply stops and there is no cash value.
It suits families who want a clear, predictable figure behind them — a lump sum for a spouse, or a defined amount to cover school years.
Things worth considering
- Premiums are usually fixed unless the policy is reviewable
- The real value of a fixed sum may be eroded by inflation over a long term
- Cover ends with the term and does not build a surrender value
